Using Stencils and gifts

Stampin' Up! has been carrying a wide variety of Decor Stencils for some time now and I will admit I have not used any or bought any, that is until now. I have placed an order and can't wait for it to come in so I can start playing, I mean creating :) In the mean time, being as impatient as I am I had some acrylic sheets (similar to the plastic for the Stampa-ma-jig and thought...hmmm... BIG SHOT!!! and sure enough they will run through and cut beautifully. Now I will be honest anything with fine cutting like the Bigz Die Daisies does NOT work but I will keep trying. Seems the centre of the flowers just doesn't want to cut, but I am sure if I add a shim layer or two I will be able to cut them out too. So I have made a few of my own stencils. The Beautiful Butterflies Die cuts perfectly!!.

Here is a gift bag I created yesterday for my In-Laws anniversary. See the Butterfly in the corner?
I did post this video last year, but since we are talking about SU!s Decor Stencils I thought I would post it again.
Create beautiful expressions of your style and creativity when you use our Décor Stencils to add design to your walls and art projects. Several of our Décor Stencils coordinate with our existing products, so creating coordinating projects for display is a simple way to express your creativity. Tune in as Shelli Gardner explains why she loves these stencils--and why you'll love them too!

I have posted below the stencils I have ordered and can't wait to start creating with!!

Card Share

Just stopping in for a quick card share. These are some of the cards that Hostesses and their guest got to make this month when they attended a workshop.

A Stampin' Up! workshop, is where you open your home and invite your friends to enjoy an exciting demonstration provided by me, your Stampin' Up! demonstrator and make great make-n-take projects like these. When you host a workshop, you'll see new project ideas, learn different techniques, make a project, and have fun with people you enjoy. Oh did I mention earn Free Product?

As a hostess, you'll choose a date with me for a party, then invite your friends and family into your home to stamp and have fun with you. Your Stampin' Up! workshop can be as simple or elaborate as you want it to be. It can be a class where you make specific projects or a training to learn new techniques. No matter what you have in mind, I will help you make it the perfect event for you and your friends. Email me to Book an April workshop.

Big Shot Pillow

So I have taken the plunge to sewing using the big shot and its Bigz (tm) dies.I have been wanting to try this for some time now. There are a lot of great Demo's out there is blog land that have been doing this for some time now but I do not sew. I can and I have but it is not on my "fav's" list for sure and if you look close at the pictures below of my closure on my pillow you will see why.

I decided that I wanted to make some pillows using the Big Shot to cut out fabric. I used Iron-on adhesive on the back of my material first and them cut out the pieces. Now Iron-on IS my kind of sewing for sure but I did have to sew the actual pillow case and my closure on my second pillow is definatly better than my first. When I started Sewing the closure it wasn't looking right so I changed stitched and it still didn't look right so I changed again. By the end I had found the stitch I was looking for.
Here is my first pillow (I made two matching pillows)

 For these Pillows I used:
Tools: The Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, SU! Top Note Bigz Die, Build a Flower Bigz Die and The Flower Bigz Clear Die. To embellish the flowers I used Some SU! Earth Element buttons in Pumpkin Pie. To make the stems I cut strips out of the green material and for the leaves I cut one Flower in green and cut it into 5 leaves.
Also needed is a Sewing Machine to make the pillow (this is the only sewing in the whole project) Iron-on Adhesive, material, iron and ironing board.

Give this a try!!! I know I have some plans for a few more sewing projects now!!!
