Poinsettia Wreath

After a rough few weeks here, first with a cold which led to putting my back out to have a go at the Flu this past weekend, I am way over due some creating time and trust me I so do get anxious when I don't get time in my studio to create.

Well today I am feeling almost human again and just couldn't wait to get creating. One thing about being down and out for so long is the ideas have been coming to me of projects I want to get started on for Christmas, Up coming Clubs and classes and Craft Fairs.

Today I set out on making a wreath, a poinsettia Wreath!!

To make this you need:
  • SU! Real Red, Always artichoke and Whisper White Cardstock
  • Big shot and Flower Bigz Clear Die (#114534) and any letter Dies (I used my Cricut)
  • SU! Scallop Trim Boarder (#118402), Scallop Trim Corner punch (#118870) and 5-Petal Flower Punch
  • SU! Riding Hood Red classic Stamp pad and Sponge Daubers
  • SU! 1 1/4" Early Espresso Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Basic Rhinestones (#119246) and brads
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue, SNAIL adhesive and Stampin' Dimensionals
  • 12" Floral & Craft ring and white craft paint from the Dollar Store

Happy Thanksgiving

Well it is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, so Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canucks!

“May your hearts and home be full of divine blessings on this Thanksgiving”

I had my in-Laws over for a nice Family dinner last Sunday, something we were never able to do before we moved into this new house because our old house was too small. My Mother-in-Law made a comment, and I know she was joking, she asked how come  I didn't set the table with place setting or something else that I had made. This really got me to thinking, I am always creating for classes, workshops, Craft shows and open house displays but I rarely make something for my Family and friends. Sure my Christmas gifts are always homemade crafts, at Easter and other occasions I always make some treat for the kids, but when was the last time I simply did something for an occasion at my home... never! So today I put all other things aside and simply created for my Family and my home.

We are having 2 Thanksgiving Dinners this weekend and both are here at our home. I love entertaining and having family and friends over to share it with. So I sat down to make centre pieces for the table, name tags for each place setting and little favours for each person (24 in total)

First I would like to share with you the centre pieces I made (and thank Sherrill Graff for reminding me today of this great idea, no this is not mine and I do not know who should get the credit, it was in our Demonstrator magazine for September 2010)

Here are the Pumpkin centre pieces I made...

 Here are all 4 Pumpkins I made (2 small using 8 1/2"x 1" strips and 2 large using 12" x 2" strips of paper)

Here is a close up of the Large Pumpkin using assorted designer Series paper in Pumpkin Pie)
Here is a close up of one of the smaller pumpkins made with Pumpkin Pie Cards stock

Here is  a run down of how to make these
  1. Cut strips of Card Stock or designer series paper. Stack 12 to 14 strips, and punch holes in both ends using Crop-A-Dile. Secure strips together on one end using  Jumbo Brad, and fan out into circle shape. To form into sphere, secure other end of strips together using second Silver 5/16" Jumbo Brad.
  2. Spray thin strips of Old Olive or Always Artichoke card stock with water, and wrap around dowel or Stampin' Write marker. Allow to dry, then remove from dowel.
  3. Cut leaves from Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper using Big Shot and Leaves #2 Originals Die. Adhere leaf and curly stem from previous step to top of each pumpkin using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  4. Stamp leaf image three times in Old Olive ink on Old Olive (I used) or Whisper White Card Stock. Cut out, and adhere one to larger leaf on top of each pumpkin using Stampin' Dimensionals.
I will post later the Name tags and gift favours so be sure to check back,

Until them Happy Thanksgiving!! and

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY - Open House pictures

Saturday was my 2nd annual World Cardmaing day and open house/ sale. I promised that I would post some pictures of my displays and out make-n-take.

My Christmas Display table... I love the Decor Accent Design-a-house. I can't wait til November 6th for my Kids class, we are going to have so much fun making these.
Here is the Candy Countdown Calendar Kit, I will have to admit I was very impressed with this kit when it arrived. Now I LOVE SU! products but this is one well designed kits!! This is a must have for your holiday decorations.

I just love the New designer Fabric!!
Here is a little Christmas Tree I made with the Deck the Halls Designer Fabric. A friend of mine is a knitter and her wool come on these great cardboard cones, for this tree I took 2" strips of the fabric and loose stitched them in half and pulled the thread to bunch them up and then adhered them to the cone, I used the new Champagne Glass Glitter and Star Punch to make the star on top.
I am a lover of yard sales and am always looking for something I can "up-cycle" into something new. I found this little holder and pots a while back and new I could up-cycle this into something cute, I used the 1 3/4" and the 2 3/8" scallop circle punches to make these too cute flowers.
Here is the adorable make-n-take we made. I love the Two Step Owl Punch and Play Date DSP
The Door Prize Table!!! One every hour!! Congrats Chris, Danielle, Carol, Shelley and Colleen, hope you like your prizes.

Here are some of the Halloween items, see isn't the Design-a-house the greatest. So fun to make for every occasion
These are some of the great projects for my "kids birthday Parties"  and PA day classes
Are these not the absolute cutest box of fat free chocolates? I love Linda Pratts Blog, she has some of the cutest tutorials.

We had a great day!! hope you like the projects.

My new Craft Studio.

Over the years my craft space has always been growing but only as much as the room available would allow, that and I have always shared my office/space with my husband.
Here is a picture of my space when I first joined Stampin' Up! as a Demo almost 3 years ago, not sure if you can see but in the bottom left corner you will see my husbands bass amp that I shared my small corner with. It was small but it worked and it was better than dragging everything out to the kitchen table, like I did before this.

Here is my next space upgrade, 2 years ago. I call is a "space" because that's what it really is. We all dream of a "Studio" but reality sets in and with a family of 5 and my Mother living with us I will take what I can get.
This picture is the second upgrade still, now, with the help and cooperation of my DH I have expanded to 2 tables and more shelving. At the time it was the most wonderful space I could dream of.

As you know we moved to a new home in September. We have moved just out of the city and into the country, to a 1900's farm house. With this has come a lot of "new" space, and I am not talking about the 2 acres in the back yard. The original house had a shared living/room dinning room, but an addition had been built for a new living room. My Family has "given" me the huge dinning room space as my dinning room/ craft studio (a lot more studio than dining room, but we can now have 16 people over for a sit down dinner!! thats a first for us, we used to squish around the table for just us)

Saturday October 2nd was my annual World Cardmaking day and open house so I took some pictures to share with all of you of my New Craft Studio!! I just have to say it is still a work in progress but I do love it. I can now host classes and workshops at home and accommodated 12 people comfortably.

Now remember these pictures I am set up for the open house.
The table with the red table cloth is actually our dinning room table.
I love that I am now organized! everything has a place and is easy to find. Take a regular cabinet from home depot add some decor Elements (spot on chocolate brown circles item # 114859) and voila... a fashionable organized cabinet to hide supplies
this display table is usually my big shot table, I finally have a permanent home for my Favorite tool! and above it the shelves house all my Dies and some other supplies
These great cube shelves are great to keep supplies and displays mixed together
My DH calls this mission control

Well off to do some creating but I have more to post later. I will be posting pics from my Open house!
