New Display Boards

As some of you know I have been working hard at re-organizing and doing a little redecorating in my Studio and my home. If you would like to know more about my re-organizing visit my post here.

So with all of this change a big part is de-cluttering, but as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Displays are a very important part of my studio. So I have been looking for something for my walls while still displaying my work. Also my Studio has wood "paneled" walls which leave Decor Elements a bit more difficult (but not impossible, that post will come in the next month or so)

So I found an idea that is not only very functional but crafty too!

Here is the first of my New Display Boards

* I started with a wood mounted Artist canvas that was on sale at a certain box craft store in packages of 2. This one is 20x16".
* Then I covered it with a piece of quilting batten and the covered that with a piece of retired SU! Candy Cane Christmas Designer Fabric and secured it to the back of the using a hot glue gun.
* Once attached tightly I then used some Red velvet Ribbon I had given to me by a friend. I attached the ribbon only to the back, again using the hot glue gun.
* Once that was set I used my SU! Paper piercing tool (#116631) and pooked holes on the criss-crosses of the ribbon and using a package of retired SU! circle brads secured the ribbon to the canvas.

I have 3 more canvases that I am going to play with, I know I will be making at least one more of these but am waiting for my new order from the occasions mini to come in, and I will be using some of the new Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric.

Here are some more pictures of my new display board.
Here is the board with out any cards displayed on it.
A bit of a close up for you
I took a pair of metal cutters and took the back off of the brad and added a dimensional to the back and stuck in the head of the nail.

Hope you enjoyed! Leave me a comment I would love to hear from you!

Cookie exchange - My Digital Studio Style

Before the Holidays I participated in two Cookie Exchanges. One was a "real" cookie exchange with all the yummy assorted sweets and treats but the second was a "digital" cookie exchange or recipe exchange.

A wonderful online group I belong to, which has members all over Canada and the US, decided to organize a Cookie exchange using My Digital Studio and our favorite recipes. Not only did I participate with 3 of my favorite recipes I was lucky enough to be able to help out some fellow members that did not yet have My Digital Studio.

Today I would like to share some of the pages that I created and submitted to the Digital Cookie exchange. Now remeber these are not all my recipes.

I love My Digital Studio and I am sure you will too, If you are still on the fence on Digital scrapbooking let me know or watch for "My Digital Studio" workshops in the up coming months.

My new years resolution - re-organizing my life

My New Years resolution is to re-organize my life and that started at home. I have re-organized both of our kids rooms, the kids craft/play area and of course my studio. Here are some before and afters of my daughters room and my Studio. I found these great sturdy canvas tote cubes at our local Dollar Store for only $2!!

Shawna has a very cool Loft bedroom, but with its slanted ceilings makes the space a bit of a challenge to arrange. Here is her room before and after:

Here is Shawna after she and I attacked and conquered ...

Now I know we have only been in the new house since September and I loved the way my Studio turned out, but one thing has always bothered me and that is everything was out in the open when we had company (my studio is also our Dinning room, studio first though of course). I knew what I wanted but the problem was finding the right storage solution. I could go to Ikea (2.5 hours drive) because they had exactly what I wanted but not quite in the colours I wanted and 2/4 $19.99, when I need 18... ouch, didn't want to spend that much all at once and really the new SU! Occasion Mini just came out and there are new stamps this girl must have! So when I found these Canvas Tote boxes at the local dollarstore for only TWO BUCKS and in Cream and brown colours, I knew right then what I had to do!! Buy them all! By all I mean all 3 that the first store had and then go to the next location and buy what they had, because I had to have the cream and brown ones. Well I have what I need and have bought out all 3 locations in Belleville, and a few locations out of town (I couldn't have done this with out the help of some great friends that just happen to be going there anyways)

So here are some before and then after picture of the finished Studio.
I love the shelves and cabinet, my DH bought these for me a few years ago at HomeDepot
Yes inside the cabinet is organized too with all my project supplies such as tins, canvas, coasters and more that I can't tell you about yet because they are top secret future club projects.

And yes inside every one of those cubes is organized too!
Well except maybe this one! I have a "ribbon" problem and the problem is I keep every scrap longer than 2inchs. But I will get this done this weekend. But all of this mess is all in one of the new boxes with the lids. If you notice the very top of the picture you can see the one I organized with spools of SU ribbon. Yes I have 2 13x11x6 boxes with Ribbon. I even have a 3rd one empty just in case I need it for more ribbon.
I even did a mini make over on my Big Shot table. I found matching smaller boxes at the Dollarstore as well.

There is one room left in the house to be re-organized and that is our master bedroom, why is that always last?

Happy New Year!!

Hello Everyone,

I am sorry I have been MIA for too long, but I believe in Family First and although I think of all of you as my Crafting  Family this time I am talking about my Family. I decided that the entire month of December it was going to be all about my Family and what a wonderful Month we had.

But now it is time to get back to work. So much is going on! The new Occasions Mini was Released last week and it is jam packed with too much "cute"

I am working and my 2011 schedule and it seems to be filling up quickly. I will still have my Monthly Clubs that meet in Picton every second Thursday evening and Belleville every third Wednesday evening but I have add a third time Every third Thursday afternoon to accommodate our already busy schedules. All 3 dates each month with be the same projects just with more opportunity for you to attend and the same great price of only $10 for 2-3 great new projects.

I am working right now on new great Monthly Class and Bi-Monthly Stamp-a-Stacks so stay tunes to more updates on those. Also something new to last year was our Crop-for-a cure in November. This was a great success with nice small group that we have already scheduled our next event for February 19th and more to come in June and October. 100% of the cost and money raised from Raffles at these crops are being pledged to Christine King as she Runs again October 2011 for her second "Run for a Cure". Way to go Christine and it is our honour to support you and this amazing cause. (here is the Flyer from last November)

Also continuing on the calendar for  2011 is the Kids PA day Classes, the next PA Day Class is Thursday February 3rd from 1-3 and our theme this month is Valentines day!! (here is a Picture from our Kids Christmas House Class held last November)

I will be back soon with sharing and more class and Stampin' Up! updates, until then...
