Thinking of Spring with Sunny Garden and Butterfly Prints

Today's cards share has me thinking about Spring. I am so ready for it, now do not get me wrong I love winter and snow but I am still ready for spring!

For today's card I am using Clean and Simple Stampings sketch challenge #129 and I knew I wanted to base this card around the wonderful designer series paper from Stampin' Up! Sunny Garden (119831). One of the great things about Stampin' Up!s Designer series paper, besides that is it beautiful and double sided, is that is coordinates with everything from Stampin' Up! The cardstock, ink, buttons, brad and some stamp sets.

I love the way this card came together and I hope you enjoy it too.

To make this you need:
    * SU! Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White Cardstock, Also Sunny Garden Designer series paper (119831)

    * SU! Poppy Parade Classic Ink pad
    * SU! Stamp set used is Butterfly Prints (120738)
    * SU! Butterfly Xl Punch (119848) and scallop edge border (119882)

    * SU! Designer Buttons in Bright (119747) and Chantilly 1/2" Crochet trim (118480)
    * SNAIL adhesive, Glue dots and Stampin' Dimensionals

If you like these cards or any others you find here on my website, leave a comment. Or if you would like to host a workshop in my studio or your home, I can come and show you and your friends how to make these and many other great cards, drop me a line I still have a few dates open in March and take advantage to the great Sale-a-Bration promotion and earn even more free products.

Clean and Simple Sketch challenge and using the SU! Colour Coach

Sometime creating new and exciting cards can be a challenge to come up with ideas. From time to time I like to play along with sketch challenges to see what I can make. For today's challenge I am getting my inspiration from a great place called Clean and Simple Stamping. Here is their challenge this week.
For this challenge I have taken it one step further and actually "used" the great Colour Coach Stampin' Up! has. This new colour coach not only has large colour swatches, it also has 2 colour combination on the back of the cards. So for this card I started by picking one colour, Cherry Cobbler. I love this rich dark red and use it all the time but on the back of the Cherry cobbler colour swatch is 2 suggestions, the Creative Combination and the Sweet set. The sweet set is Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy, really? Not a combination I would have thought of on my own so I decided to go with it... and you know what... I love it, and would love to know what you think, so please leave a comment below.

To make this you need:
    * SU! Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie and whisper White card stock
    * Big shot, SU! exclusive Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder (117335) and Bigz Die Frame Oval Scallop (114521)
    * SU! Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink pad
    * SU! Stamp sets used are On Your Birthday (111664) and Circle Circus (115778)
    * SU! Decorative Label Punch (120907)
    * SNAIL adhesive and Stampin' Dimensionals

I had a great time working outside of my "comfort" zone and safe colours. Give it a try!

Remember Now is a great time to book a workshop, invite some friends over and let me share with all of you what I love, oh and you will earn free product at the same time!! Contact me today to book your March workshop or visit my events calendar to see if there is a class or club you would like to attend.

Fun Day of Stamping in Peterborough

In February I was invited by one of my Picton Club members to come with her to Peterborough and hold a All day Stamp Club with some of here friends. We all had such a great time, many of these ladies (ages ranged from 11 to 40+) were first time stampers but you would never know it. I love providing an example and all of the supplies for a project and watch how, even ever so subtly, their cards change into their own creations.

We made 6 projects that day, 4 cards, a 8x8 scrapbook page and a wall hanger. Here are 3 of the cards we made.

I am so exited to say they have invited me back Saturday March 19th. This is not a private Stamping day so if you would like to join us that afternoon visit our event page here, or send me an email. We will be making 12 all occasions cards this time for $30.

If Stamp Club sounds like something you would like to come and try,  check out my upcoming events or drop me a line and we can see if an in home workshop would be more of what you would like.

Get out of your comfort zone with In Colours and Mojo Monday

Wow I just looked back through past posts and realized I have not done one of my favorite things since April 13 2010. I love Mojo Mondays Sketch challenges but for some reason I have not done one in almost a year. I have no excuse and no real reason that I can think of as to why. All I know is boy have I missed it. I had so much fun yesterday just completing challenges and creating, I will be posting them all throughout the week.

For this cards I made a point to set out of my comfort zone and that is with colour. I will be honest I have not used SU!s In Colours much this year. I Love Pear pizzazz but I think that is because I love SU!s Designer Series Paper Greenhouse Gala.

Here are basic directions to make your own easel card and stamp and embellish how ever you would like.
•    4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock and score at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4".
•    Prefold all score lines.
First fold the card in half, then fold the second score line opposite direction.
•    Place cardstock on table with the 5 1/2" side down. Add Sticky Stip to the 2 1/8" x 4 1/4" section cardstock that is facing up.
•    adhere the 4 ¼ x 5 ½ " cardstock to the card base.
•    Line up the top of the square with the top of the 2 1/8" x 4 1/4" section. This creates the easel card base.

•    To make the easel card stand up by itself, add an embellishment or an extra layer (for this sample, it's the punched layer) the inside of your card. This that will keep the card front from closing.
•    It is best to have that embellishment or layer at least 1/3" into the card from the bottom up.

If you are a visual learner like myself visit Splitcoast stamper here for a great picture tutorial they have posted in their resource section. Please note my measurements are altered from theirs to make a standard 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 finished card
