Buttons, Buttons, and more Buttons

Today's share is a 3 in one. I took the sketch layout from Clean & Simple 134 last week.
I love Stampin' Up!s Buttons, Buttons stamp set, It is one i earned for free from Stampin' Up! a while back, just one of the many perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Although I will be honest, I only just put the set together the day I made this card, bad me.

For this card I made my fist card very simple and it could be a great demonstrable card in a workshop.

Then I decided to dress it up a little bit by using the Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso Marvelous Markers to draw stitches on the sides of the card and on the buttons to look like thread.

But that wasn't enough I wanted to take it one step further and use actual thread and stitch the card. If you have a sewing machine you can do this the easy way, but as my little craft sewing machine decided it didn't want to work for me so I stitched them by hand.

I do love the way all of these cards turned but I am partial to the first and third cards, I love the simplicity of the first and the added touch of detail of the last.

To make this card you need:
    * SU! Early Espresso, Daffodil delight, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White card stock,

    * SU! Early Espresso and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink pad, Early Espresso, Daffodil delight, Pumpkin Pie Marvelous Markers
    * SU! Stamp set used is Button, Button (122026) and Live Love and Laugh for the verse (117114)
    * SU! 3/4" and 1" Punches, Paper-piercing tool and mat pack,  SNAIL adhesive and Stampin' Dimensional, optional needle and thread.

Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight Colour Combo

Yes I am still on Holidays (until Monday). My dear Husband is actually working this weekend at The Cottage Show in Ottawa and I thought it would be a great chance for the kids and I to get a weekend away too. So while Chris is working at his booth, the kids and I will be out seeing Parliament Hill, some Museums and maybe some shopping, Confession time I am a Dollar Store Junkie. Yup it is true, you can ask my close friends, one of my dream vacations is to go on a Dollar store Weekend. The idea is to map out say a 4-6 hour radius from home and hit ever Dollar store in every single town. Ok enough of my secret obsessions, lets get back to the obsession you already know about... Card making and Stampin' Up!

Today's card share is inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge from last Sunday and the Stampin' Up! Colour Coach, my cannot live with out tool. I go to this so often when I am not using a Designer Series Paper set. The great thing about our designer series papers is they are colour coordinated for us. In the Idea Book and catalogue it lists the colors in the paper pack so you already have a colour scheme set out for you and the rest is your creativity. For todays card I looked up at my display board and saw there was a lot of Blue's and Green's already posted this week so I choose Cherry Cobbler as my starting point but I kept wanting to come back to Blue's and Green's, so tothe Colour Coach I went. Cherry Cobble, Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight... Daffodil delight? really..hmmm
Ok well they were right and I love the colour combination, was not my first choice, not even my 5th, but I love how this card turned out.
 To make this card you need:
    * SU!
Cherry Cobble, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight and Very Vanilla card stock, and Neutrals Pattern DSP Pack
    * SU!
Early Espresso Classic Ink pad
    * SU! Stamp set used is Sincere Salutations (115068)
    * SU!
Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (117335), Birds & Blooms Stampin' Up! Sizzlits Die (113485) Big Shot, Decorative Label Punch, Scallop circle Punch and 1" Circle Punch SNAIL adhesive and Stampin' Dimensional

Oh and here is what the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge looked like...

Well I wish you all a great weekend.

Paisley Petals and Four Frames Share

 Although the Family and I are currently on holidays and are on our way to the Nations Capital, I did make sure that you would not go with out while I was away.

This mornings cards share is using the two great products avaliable during the month of April and then will be gone until the new Idea book and catalogue comes out in July. When I saw this paper I knew I could not wait until July to have some.
I knew the card needed some ribbon accross the middle but I did not have any in Marina Mist on hand so here is the trick I used, I cut a 1/2" strip of marina mist paper and them used the new Textured Impressions Framed Tulips (121809) Embossing folder and placed the strip of paper only on the edge and ran it through my Big Shot. I love that a little bit of texture has given the card just that little bit "more". Give this a try with any embossing folder or texture plate to add that "little bit more" to your cards and scrapbook pages.
Also look at the scallop border I made for this card, I wanted a larger border than our border punches and I do not have the Tasteful Trims Bigz Die (120893) I wish I did, so I had to improvise. I used the 1" circle punch and punched out 5 circles, applied snail adhesive to the back of my DSP and attached the circles at about their half mark. One other thing I did here is cut 1"inch off of my DSP at the bottom before adding my circles and then adhered it back on once the circles were in place. I am pleased with the result and will definitely use this again!

To make this card you need:
    * SU! Old Olive Marina Mist, Early Espresso and whisper white  card stock, and Paisley Petals Designer Seriers paper (122367)
    * SU! Early Espresso Classic Ink pad
    * SU! Stamp sets used are Four Frames (123440) and for the verse Pocket Silhouettes (111672)
    * SU!
Textured Impressions Framed Tulips (121809) Embossing folder, Big Shot, Decorative Label Punch and 1 Circle Punch, SNAIL adhesive and Stampin' Dimensional

Don't forget the Spring Blossom promotion is only avaliable for the Month of April and then These products won’t be available again until July 1. Contact me today to place your order!Or while I am a way with the Family you can order 24/7 at my online store so do do not have to wait til I am home (although I do have my laptop with me and will be checking my email from time to time)

Until I am Back Monday,

Greenhouse Garden two-step stamping

Now that Spring has sprung and my Tulips are showing themselves in the garden I seem to love stamping flowers. Although my colour choices don't scream spring I do love the way Night of Navy and Baja Breeze compliment each other so nicely.
I only just ordered the Stamp set Greenhouse Garden (113824) last week and this is my first time "inking" it up. Honestly not one that jumped out at me in the 2010/11 Stampin' Up! Idea book and Catalogue but definitely one I will now call a favorite! Oh how I have so many favorites...lol
 I Love how just a simple turn in the card can make a whole new layout!

    Stampin' Up!s Hedgehog Happiness for Shelley

    I recently acquired a large selection of retired Stampin' Up! Stamp sets and while going through the sets came across a very cute set called Hedge Hog Happiness from 2000.  My very good friend, Stampin' Assistant and now one of my newest downline, Shelley fell in love with set right away. Turns out she LOVES hedgehogs. While we were crafting together the other day she asked if she could stamp a bunch of the cute little hedgehogs to have on hand in case she wants to make a card with them later. Not only did she stamp a bunch she also coloured them in with Stampin' Up!s Watercolour wonder crayons. They turned out so darn cute I just had to make a few cards with the stamp set to share with all of you. Now although the stamps are retired and no longer available everything else used in these cards is current and avaliable to order!

    One little thing I want to point out on these cards and a great money saver. If you don't have the exact coordinating cardstock to match the Designer series paper you are using or need just a shade darker that you are using for a mat for your papers try using one of Stampin' Up!s Many Marvelous markers in the same shade or one darker. If you look closely at my pictured NONE of the Hedgehog images are matted, I simply used a ruler and matching Marvelous Marker and coloured the edges. This worked with all of the cards except the Peach Parfait card (card #1) as the DSP I used on the bottom was too dark to start with and when coloured over it did not look right. So on all of the 4 cards ONLY the Lower piece of Sunny Garden DSP is matted all others are coloured. Try this little tip a try and I am sure you will love the results. I use a ruler as I am not very steady at hand with a marker attempting a straight line.

    The Basics to make these cards you need:
         * SU! All card bases are Soft Suede Cards stock and all use Whisper White card stock,
        * SU! Stamp sets used is Hedgehog Happiness (retired sorry)
        * SU! 1" and 1 1/2" circle punches
        * SU! Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Stazon Ink pad, Crimper tool (101618), Designer Big Buttons in Sweet Stitches (122302) and Springtime Vintage (122301), Hemp Twine (100982) and Blender Pens (102845)
        * SNAIL adhesive and Stampin' Dimensionals.
        * Technique water colouring using blender pens and Watercolor Wonder crayons and faux borders

    Paper and ink colour combinations are :
    Card #1
        * Peach Parfait and Old Olive (only to mat the DSP and for the 1 1/4" circle) Cardstock, Sunny Garden Designer Series paper (119831). Markers used is Old Olive
    Card #2
         * Pretty in Pink and Real Red (for the 1 1/4" circle) Cardstock, Sunny Garden Designer Series paper (119831). Markers used is Real Red
     Card #3
         *Pear Pizzazz and Always Artichoke (only to mat the DSP and for the 1 1/4" circle) Cardstock, Playdate Designer Series paper (117168). Markers used is Always Artichoke
     Card #4
        *Tempting Turquoise Cardstock, Play date Designer Series paper (117168). Playdate Designer Series paper (117168)Markers used is Tempting Turquoise

    I hope you enjoyed tonight's card share and tips. Give them a try and let me know how it goes!
